August Meeting

Our meeting in July was well attended.
Discussed and agreed to sponsor a balloon for the Balloon Regatta. Our balloonist is Liz Gersten and her husband Lee. They come from Apple Valley and several of us in the club have crewed for her in the past. It was decided that this could give the club good advertising, (an ad in the balloon magazine, a banner on the balloon and possible mention in most any other advertising.)
This will also assure Liz had adaquate crew. They will most likely fly Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings as well as participate in the GLOW on Saturday evening. The crew responsibilities include helping get the ballon up, follow it to where ever it comes down (this may be one or more times during a flight) and at the end of the flight help bring the balloon down and get it put away properly.
Those of us who have worked with Liz in the past know her to be a great teacher. Not only will you be given a job to do but you will know why you are doing it. One comes away from the experience feeling like you "really did and learned something."
Also while she can't guarantee a ride, Liz tries to get all her crew in the air if at all possible.

So help us help the Balloon Regatta have one of it's best years yet, by coming out and helping crew. You just might get a ride out of it. Mark your calendar now for Nov. 6-8 and if you can help crew, let me know. Judy Kitson 928-645-3962, judy-kitson@canyoncountry.net
