We had a good meeting in January. Attending - Art and Rene Cloutier, John Ridpath, Hal Friborg, Gene Tucker, Jim & Judy Kitson, Pam Brown.

John Ridpath brought his 4 cyl. large model airplane engine, Desert Aircraft 200, that he had recently purchased to show off and watch his buddies drool over. He is keeping it secret for now what he plans to put it in. It drew a lot of conversation and was a great "show and tell".

To make the Christmas banquets easier to plan and more financially viable for everyone the following motion was made by Judy Kitson and seconded by Art Cloutier:

To pay out of club funds for a reservation for 20, not to exceed $400 or $20 per person. If less than 10 reservations are in by a week before the banquet, it will be cancelled. If more than 20 attend then the amount needed over $400 will be divided evenly between the number of people attending and they will each pay that amount. The following example was given as reference. If we had 25 people attending and the meal cost $20. The first 20 would be paid, or $400. The remaining 5 at $20 each would have $100 yet to be paid. $100 / 25 = $4 per person to be collected.

The motion passed unanimously.

The treasurer has presented that we have $2,578.55 in our cd which at .20000interest rate has earned $27.43. It matures on 1/26/10. We voted to roll it over for another term.

We had a report on the Wings Across America event. The plane is presently in the Colorado Springs, CO area and will head down the western slope of CO into NM and then across to Page. The present holder is #176 and we are #189. WAA predicts that it will reach us in about 6 weeks. George will arrange for pick-up from the last place before us. Jim Kitson has offered to help with that and Jon Ridpath has offered to help with getting it on to St. George.
We are hoping for help in promoting this event from the local newspaper and radio with a "The Plane is coming, we don't know exactly when but SOON!" campaign to draw interest into the airplane and hopefully get us a good audience.

Be sure to listen to Mid-Day on KXAZ on Feb. 4 when George Watson and Judy Kitson will be discussing the WAA-08 event.

At our next meeting we will finalize plans as we will have a better idea as to what to expect.

Ever wonder what the view is like of our field from those planes we fly? Well Dave Simmons recently flew over the field in his ultralight and snapped the photo shown below for us. Thanks, Dave

See you at next months meeting - February 9, 2010 - in our back room
