RC Work Day Saturday, November 15, 8:30 AM 
Please bring your torches, pitchforks, and shovels.
Our plan is to burn the dried weeds in place.
This work day could put us ahead of the weeds for a while this winter!

RC Club Minutes November 11, 2014
Members Present: Jon, Art, Ryta, Bob, Tom, Joe, Pam

Bob was recognized on this Veterans Day.  He served in the Air Force from 1947-1951.  Thank you, Bob, for your service to our country.

1.        Tom gave us the Treasurer Report.  Our checking account balance is $4432.15.
2.       Christmas Party Friday, December 5 at 6:00 PM at Pam’s House 585 Pinto Road.  Dinner will be $10 per person.  Please bring a special salad, side dish, or desert.  You can email me or call me at 928-614-8628 to let me know you are coming and what delicious dish you are bringing to the Christmas Party.  Check the list below for the signup so far.  Gift exchange with $20 limit will be held after dinner.  Airplane quilt raffle drawing will also be that night $5 per ticket.

3.        Bob updated us on FAA Temporary Flight Restrictions.  It is unlawful to operate a model plane within 3.5 miles of a stadium or amusement park from ground level to 3000’ in the air.  The use of drones for photography by non-AMA members is impacting our sport.

What a great day at Olson Field, Saturday, October 25!  The food was delicious.  Thanks to everyone who brought food.  A special thanks to Tom, Bob and Ryta for bringing and cooking the wonderful burgers, brats and chili/cornbread.  A big thanks to Joe for the Pepsi (and the Cokes)!  It was nice to have so many members get together for fun, food and flying. 
Mark your calendars for the November 11 RC Club meeting at 7 where we will be planning the Christmas Party for Friday, December 5.  I hope to see you soon!

LPRCM Minutes October 14, 2014

Reports
Treasurer: Tom Zwack: $4498.21 last statement balance.   Tom Z. has deposited $41.00 and anticipates $52.27 reimbursement for field marking and weed drag expenses.  Tom and Bob have marked the runway with athletic field marking for lines.           

Safety Officer: Bob Hartzell: No current violations.  Please be careful with cold weather clothing when adjusting engine.

President: Pam Brown:  Next meeting will be November 11 at 7 PM at Pam’s house 585 Pinto Road. 

1.      
$5 raffle tickets for an airplane quilt are for sale.  Pam will get tickets from Tom.  Everyone will get an envelope at the BBQ with tickets they can sell.  Drawing will be held at Christmas Party.  Becky may have a clear bag for the quilt. or you can call Pam at 928-614-8628 for tickets.

2.       Christmas Party will be held at Pam’s house on Friday, December 5 at 6 PM.  Meals are $10 each.  Club will buy turkey, ham and sides from Safeway.  Bob will deep fry the turkey.  Tom has a roaster to keep meat warm.  Members are asked to bring a side dish or desert that is their specialty and a gift of under $10 for the gift exchange.
3.       BBQ and Member Fly will be held Saturday, October 25 beginning at 8 AM.  Bob and Ryta will pick up brats and burgers on their trip to St. George on Thursday and be reimbursed by the club for the meat.  Signup for items:  Tom will bring Chili and campstove, Jon will bring chips, Joe will bring the big grill and soda, Becky will bring slaw, Ryta will bring buns plates and silverware, Pam will bring condiments onions tomatoes and cheese.  Other members will be asked to bring desert.
4.       Joe will email Pam photos from April Fly.  
5.       November 11 meeting will be used to finalize plans for Christmas Party on December 5.
6.       Jon reported that the gates at the field are in and complete.
7.       Joe reported that the floor of his shop is done and the walls are going up this weekend.
8.       Tom suggested assigning duties at the field. 
9.       A list of field work responsibilities was generated and members will be asked to choose those they want to work on and that they feel qualified to do. Responsibilities: Weeds, Runway, Porta-Potties, Ramada Repair, Drive and Entry Maintenance, Garbage Cans, Tables and Pit Area, Fencing Maintenance.  Motion by Bob, second by Tom, passed to have Tom buy three garbage cans with lids, bags, and chains with supplies to be stored in the handicapped bathroom.  Tom wanted the cans labeled trash, metal and glass.  This does not conform to the recycling sorting of Page, so whoever chooses the Garbage Can duty can label them as they see fit.   If you know what duties you’d like to sign up for, email or call Pam.  This will be discussed at the November meeting.
10.   Motion by Becky, second by Bob, passed to adjourn at 8:00.
11.   Jon shared his T28 Navy and Air Force Trainer.  It is seven channel foam with a three blade prop and a 14 V battery.  The plane had quite a lot of features including navigation lights.  Thanks for sharing, Jon.

12.   Next meeting agenda will include Christmas Party final planning, field responsibilities, quilt raffle.

Reminder RC Club Meeting

 Tuesday, October 14 at 7 PM at Pam’s House at 585 Pinto Road

Refreshments will be served.

Plans for October 25 RC Fly and BBQ will be detailed and finalized.  What will you sign up to bring?

An airplane quilt was donated to the club and will be on display.  Club will decide how to use the quilt as a fundraiser for the club.  Any ideas?  This is a nice looking quilt.

Treasurer: Tom Zwack: $4498.21 last statement balance.   Tom Z. has the gates and hardware.  Jon will get four t-posts.   Two people should be able to complete this project before the October 25 BBQ.   Tom Z. anticipates expenses for modifying the weed drag with longer chain link fence, chain and a railroad tie.

President: Pam Brown:  Next meeting will be October 14 at 7 PM at Pam’s house 585 Pinto Road. 

1.       Post office box was renewed at no cost using a letter from Page Fire Department confirming address.
2.       Please contact the FAA to oppose the FAA’s interpretation of the laws affecting model aviation.  There are four methods to submit a comment: 
a.       www.regulations.gov and search for “model aircraft”
b.      Fax to 202-493-2251
c.       Mail comments to Docket Operations, M-30 US Dept. of Transportation, 1200 New Jersey Avenue SE, West Building Ground Floor, Room W12-140, Washington, DC 20590-0001
d.      Hand deliver to the above address between 9 AM and 5 PM Monday-Friday
3.       BBQ and member flight on Saturday, October 25, 8 AM.  Joe will bring a big grill.  Club will pay for meat and ask member to bring the rest.  We can sign up for what we want to bring at the next meeting.
4.       Field Improvements:  We need to keep driving the runway after rains to keep it firm.  Weeds aren’t too bad right now but we’ll need to drag the weeds again soon.  Gates can be put up before October BQ.  Jon reports no progress on pond liner from NGS, but St. George RC may donate artificial turf.
5.       Ruby Plasterer donated model planes to the club in memory of her husband Ross Plasterer. Pam will write her a letter thanking her for the donation.
6.       Pam will check on prices for a memory board for the field that lists the names of departed members and supporters.
7.       Mike Miller is ill and in the hospital at Las Vegas.  We wish him a speedy recovery.
8.       Kanab Fly In September 20, Chino Valley September 12&13, Warbirds in St. George November 7&8, Presidents Day Fly In St. George in February.

LPRCM Minutes June 10, 2014

Treasurer: Tom Zwack: $4656.92 last statement balance.  Motion by Becky, second by Michael, passed to approve reimbursement to Tom Z. for $158.71 for gates and hardware.  We need four t-posts to be purchased and a couple of people to complete this project.

President: Pam Brown:  Next meeting will be July 8 at 7 PM at Tom Zwack’s home on Morgan. Tom will run the meeting.

Old Business
 Membership Application Form: Motion by Jon, second by Michael, passed to approve new form.  Can we put the AMA and LPRCM forms on the website? yes  Can we have links to neighbor clubs on our website and ours on theirs? yes
Bylaws:  Motion by Tom, second by Becky, passed to approve revised bylaws.              

New Business
Tom: Tumble weeds are taking over the field.  Everyone is asked to do what they can to help the situation.  Please hand pick weeds on the runway and hoe the rest.  Weeds can be stacked by Border Street.  If each member spends one hour some time during the week on weed control, we can bring this situation around very quickly.
Jon:  Letter to SRP asking for donation of pond liner material has been approved at one level and has moved up to next level for approval.  We’ll need a trailer to haul the liner when this donation is approved.  A fork lift will put the material onto the trailer and we’ll need a work party to get it off the trailer.  Tom priced the spikes and washers to hold the liner down  at $.50 each for 500 plus washers by the pound.  This will likely be a two day project in October.
Tom: We need a chain to tow for weeding.  Tom will check with Page Lumber for price and/or donation.

Items for Next Meeting Agenda: Jon will report on pond liner progress; Tom will help members develop a step by step plan for mats, sand, liner and pins; Brainstorm Aviation Education topics, start planning next event for September or October

                Safety Officer: Bob Hartzell: Bob thanked Art and Jon for flying at the Fun Fly.  Thanks to Tom Z. for the grill, Pam and Becky for goodies.  There was concern about children too close to the planes on the runway.  We may need to tape off areas at the next event.  We may need signs  “Pilots Only in This Area.”  Judy will edit the membership form from the website and send to Tom Z., Bob H. and Pam.  When membership form is done, Bob will put copies in the log book box at the field.

                President: Pam Brown:  Next event the club should pay for the meat and ask everyone to furnish side dishes.  Bob H. and Tom Z. did a great job of striping the airfield. 
Old Business
                May 3 Flying Event and Barbecue: Bob H. was complimented on arranging the great weather for the Fun Fly.  Event was successful.
Bylaws Update: Judy Kitson distributed copies of the bylaws for revision.  Proposed bylaw changes will be sent before next meeting.  Email your ideas to Pam.
                Consider and Vote on Bylaws at June Meeting.

New Business
                Field Improvements: Motion by Jon, second by Bob H., passed to reimburse Tom Z. for the purchase of 2 gates and necessary hardware for the pit area off the long fences.  Jon has secured from NGS a donation of pond liner 120’x45’ to cover pit area.  Tom will price washers and spikes to secure liner to the ground.  We may be able to order clay dirt from Western Rock with the Gun Club to fill the pit area.  Then we’ll need to level the dirt, apply water, and use a tamper machine before spiking down the pond liner.  We will ask Joe if we can use his dad’s flatbed trailer to transport pond liner.  We’ll need to let Jim know far in advance if we need him to use equipment to level the dirt.  We’ll also need to pay for his fuel.

Spring Fun-Fly, May 3, 2014, at LPRCM field (OLSON FIELD),  2030 Border St. 8:00 AM till ?????????
 
Bring your airplane and fly, we will have some fun and then get to the serious business of eating.
 
I will have my Sr. Falcon set up with a buddy box ( if I can get Art or John to handle any instruction to any newcomer's).
 
I have the burgers and brats ready and the grills lined up. We have plates, napkins and silverware. We will also bring
baked beans(whew). Joe Pepsi will bring the soda AND COKE FOR PAM. We need chips, condiments, hot dog and hambuger buns. Please reply to me with what you can bring. 
 
Everybody keep your fingers crossed and pray for a nice day.

Minutes RC Club Meeting Tuesday, April 8 at 7:00 PM

                Treasurer: Tom Zwack: Checking Account Balance is $4456.92.
                Safety Officer: Bob Hartzell: AMA is concerned about individuals using our hobby for terrorist and peeping purposes.  Fly In and Barbecue is planned for Saturday May 3 with set up at 8 AM.  Bob will cook brats and burgers.  Joe will be asked to bring the grill.  Pam will contact radio and newspapers to invite people who want more information on RC.

                President: Pam Brown: Thanks to Bob King for all his work on maintaining the airfield.  Thanks to Art for packing the runway down after the last rain.

                March 29 Work Day at Airfield:  Joe,Mike, Becky, Tom, Pam, Bob, and Ryta got a lot done.  A burn permit is needed to clean up the last of the tumbleweeds.

New Business
                Updated Brochures: Judy Kitson:  Judy updated and printed brochures at a total cost of $40.  The brochure looks great.  Motion by Art, second by Bob, passed to credit $40 for brochures to Kitson club membership.  Pam will take some brochures to Chamber of Commerce.
                Blog Page: Judy Kitson: Judy will continue to update the blog as she receives minutes and other info.
                Flying Event and Barbecue: May 3 8 AM
                Field Improvements: Jon is trying to get artificial turf from St.George RC Club to cover the pit area once it is filled with sand and given a crown.  Tom Z. has talked to the gravel people about hauling in sand.  They can haul about 40 tons every 30 minutes at $120 an hour and a city permit for $1 per ton.  We would need to prep site.  They charge $165 per hour to level sand.  This would require a Friday-Saturday Work Day.  This will be an action item on the next agenda.  Bob has 2x4’s and materials to strengthen the small shade.
